What is IML?

“In Mould Labelling” IML is directly derived from the technique: a preprinted polypropylene (PP) label is placed in the open mold and held in the desired position by electrostatic attraction. This mould has the shape of the end product, e.g. the shape of a square Cup container. The mold closes and molten PP plastic resin is injected into the mold where it conforms to the shape of the object. The hot plastic envelopes the label, making it an integral part of the molded object. Result: label and packaging become one.
The difference between glue applied labels and in-mold labels is that a glue applied label is “on” the surface of the plastic object; the in-mold label is “in” the wall of the object.

This leading-edge technology allows for a wide variety of textures, colors, and high-resolution images to meet the specific needs of your plastic parts and products, all without having to go through costly and time-consuming secondary, post molding labeling and/or decorating steps.

The in-mold labeling and decorating process produces injection molded parts with superior wear and scratch resistance, especially compared to traditional pad printed labels. Additionally, the high quality final product can be fully recycled as the package and label consist of the same plastic material and do not have to be separated.

Maximum print quality: The offset printing technique ensures high-resolution images. Besides, you can decorate all the sides of a container with one single label.

Strong and hygienic: In mould labels resist humidity and big changes in temperature, the best solution to decorate plastic containers for frozen and refrigerated products! In mould labels are also scratch resistant, cannot crack and are not susceptible to wrinkles.

Shorter production time and lower production costs: During the in mould labeling process containers are produced and decorated in one single step. Storage of blank containers becomes unnecessary, storage and transport costs belong to the past.

Environmentally-friendly: In mould labelling saves the environment, the packaging and the label consist of the same material and can therefore be fully recycled.

The IML labels can be naturally integrated with plastic products, and can be deformed with the deformation of the bottle body. The surface of the label is smoother and more delicate. It can perfectly reproduce more detailed and delicate text, lines and other pattern information. Excellent Performance
The IML labels has the properties of waterproof, oil-proof, mildew-proof, acid-alkali-proof and friction-proof. Even if friction occurs during transportation, the printing effect will not be damaged. In-mold labeling can also solve the problem of warping and dropping of other labels, and its anti-counterfeiting performance has more advantages. The in-mold label embedded in the side wall of the plastic container can increase the extrusion strength of the side wall of the injection product by 20% so that the label will not separate when the container warps and is extruded.
Environmental Protection
IML labels and container forming at one time, to prevent secondary pollution in traditional labeling process. In addition, because the materials used in labeling and injection products are the same, they can be recycled together, and the recycling efficiency is high. The inner label material of the double-layer compound die can not only effectively solve the static electricity problem, but also “seal” the printing ink between the two layers of film, thus avoiding the direct contact between the human body and the ink.
